Neighbourhood Project Designer
Hi, I'm Shawnna! Although originally from Burlington, Ontario I was raised in Nova Scotia after moving with my family in 2008. I have a background in math, astrophysics, and planning (a head for numbers and a heart for people). I believe connecting with people through the sharing of creative skills and personal knowledge is a deeply moving experience. I truly look forward to supporting North End community members in their own sharing and learning journeys alongside my own.
I like to: read, build miniature models, make miniature clay figures/items, watch k-dramas, and nap with my cat Yuki.
I want to learn: printmaking, sewing, crochet, and wheel-throwing pottery.

Hello! My name is Layla. I grew up in the north end of Halifax. I'm a recent Dalhousie graduate with a degree in Urban Planning and Community Design. I'm excited to begin this new chapter in my career and life! I look forward fostering new connections, facilitating community development and building community!
I like: Being outdoors, walking my dog, hiking, working out, swimming, listening to music
I want to learn: All things crafts (sewing, print making, crocheting, wood working, pottery)

Hello! My name is Ted. I am an Ontario transplant in Mi'kma'ki - I grew up in Ottawa, moved to the Valley in 2017, and now live in Kjipuktuk. I spend time exploring my curiousity through trying different activities and fixing/maintaining things. I'm so excited to be a part of the Neighbourhood Project Design team and to continue making connections in the North End community!
I like to: explore forests and natural landscapes, play drums, bike, garden with native plants
I want to learn: mushroom and lichen identification, sewing and mending, baking sourdough

Hi friends! I'm Tineke (pronounced Tee-na-ka). I grew up in Kwipe'k/Bedford, and now call Kjipuktuk home. My background is in Community Development, particularly working with young people and new entrepreneurs. I am serious and curious about building meaningful, present connections, and getting to know and create new versions of our community along the way. Let's learn together!
I like to: be outside + on the water, make music, and play pickleball.
I want to learn: visible mending, songwriting, improvised dance, more Dutch!

Hello everyone! My name is Brenna, and I’m originally from Cape Breton. I moved to Kjipuktuk (Halifax) in 2019 to pursue my studies at MSVU, where I then graduated with a business degree. During my time there, I gained a deep appreciation for the power of a tight-knit community. I’m excited to apply my skills and passion for community building to support and help from the North End of Halifax!
I like to: thrift for unique clothing, take my cats for walks and make good coffee.
I want to learn: beading, embroidery, and explore the Mi’kmaw language!

Kwe’ teluisi Tammy aqq tleyawi Glooscap First Nation. Hello, my name is Tammy and I am from Glooscap First Nation. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this new and exciting, community centered initiative. My focus is to track development and support an adaptive strategy that will enable Every One Every Day to be inclusive and meaningful to all.
I like to: hike, spend time at the beach with my kiddos, play guitar, and garden.
I want to learn: more about the many lived experiences that make up the North End, home remedies for common ailments from other cultures, quick and easy family recipes.

Wado! I am Zo, a queer and autistic North Ender through and through. I’ve spent the last 5 years traveling and learning all over the world. I’m so excited to be back in the North End, connecting and strengthening this community which has nurtured me to where I am today. I’ll be using my passions for art, numbers, and storytelling to assess the impact of Every One Every Day on our communities.
I like: dinosaurs, orcas, space, and hiking with my dog!
I want to learn: to reconnect with my community and roots, urban foraging and plant identification, and expand my knowledge on equity, diversity, and inclusion in everyday life.

Hi, I’m Jocelyn! A Dartmouthian at heart, I've been working in the North End for 5 years. Here at Every One Every Day I design everything from newspapers to signs to websites. I'm excited to help bring people together with inclusive participation projects.
I like to: run, listen to audiobooks and podcasts, make things look good, trying new recipes.
I want to learn: how to identify plants, triathalon swimming and cycling, Mi’kmaw words, and more baking skills.

Hi Neighbours! My name is Deanna. I grew up in Burlington, Ontario but have called Kjipuktuk home since 2014. I have a background in arts administration and dance education. I'm passionate about community sustainability and thrilled to be joining the team to support this inclusive reconciliation initiative.
I like to: dance, read, listen to music/podcasts, go to the beach or hike with my dog - or really anything outdoors or artistic!
I want to learn: Mi'kmaw teachings, crochet, pottery, food preservation/canning, woodworking
