The Art of Pop-Up!
Interested in learning how to create your very own Pop-Up book? Join us at the Neighborhood Shop and fold life back into your old books while learning the basics of Pop-Up Art!

Make Your Own Hand Loom!
Join Ashley-Rose and learn to build frame looms for handweaving! These small looms are perfect to learn weaving basics and make fun projects. Chat about common materials that can be used for weaving or other textile related fun!

Drypoint Printing
Looking to take your printmaking skills to the next level? Come learn about drypoint printmaking! Drypoint is scratching metal or thick plastic then inking to create unique prints! Printmakers of all levels welcomed!

Storytelling: Home on a Stone
Join illustrator Natalie Laurin for a live storytelling session of “Home on a Stone” written by Emma Metallic, part of the Cedar School Decodables available from Strong Nations Publishing. Then decorate your own stone with the paints and rocks provided!

(BYOL!) Weave with Your Loom!
BYOL! Bring Your Own Loom (if you have one, otherwise you can borrow one!) Join us in learning some weaving basics on a frame loom with Ashley-Rose. We will prepare our looms for weaving, learn fun weaving techniques and make our own wall hanging.

Polymer Clay Figurines
Interested in learning how to create your own figurines, miniatures, or just want to play around with some clay? Join us at the Neighbourhood Shop and dive into the world of polymer clay fun!

Little Free Library Installation
Little Free Library is a book-exchange movement designed for books to be accessible to the community. Come learn the steps to installing one as we place the George Dixon Little Free Library, built with the George Dixon Youth Program, in the park where it will live.

Artist Talk with Allen Crooks

Collage 101: Artist Trading Cards
Join Lindsay from the Halifax Collage Collective for an afternoon of collage fun! Learn how to repurpose and reimagine paper materials into mini collages, called Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). Then trade with fellow artists at the end of the session!

Lino Printmaking
Explore lino printmaking with Darrin and David! Lino is a soft rubber material that when carved, creates beautiful, lasting prints. Come try out lino and learn different carving techniques, and how to print by hand or with our printing press!

Still-Life Drawing
Everyone is welcome to join Rob and Terra Nova as they go through drawing techniques such as perspective, shading, and more. The drawing subjects for this session will be treats - so bring your sweet tooth and creativity!

Soup Spoon Carving
Join Jackie, of Woodswoman Woodworking, for a fun session on carving spoons! Much like with Carving 101, this is designed for new and emerging carvers. Come develop your skills with Jackie and use your spoon to eat at the Our Food, Our Stories session that follows!

Bind Your Own Art Journal
Join Hannah in designing and binding your own art journal! Art journals can be used to store your poems, artwork, creative writing, or anything else you hold dear. Make your journal unique by designing the cover, picking the paper, and binding with coloured thread!

Wood Bending 101
Want to learn a unique woodworking skill? Join us as we bend and shape local lumber to contribute to a bench build. Bring close-toed shoes or boots and a helping hand!

Jig Sawing 101
Work on your woodworking skills with this jigsawing session! Bring some comfortable working clothes and close-toed shoes to learn and contribute to jigsawing plywood for the Powwow Dancer Mural.

Suds and Scents: Let’s Make Soap
I’m Magi! Come join me in making melt and pour soap. Start with basic ingredients, add your choice of essential oils, colour, and natural items for exfoliating. Bring along your favourite cookie cutters or silicone moulds for special shapes.

Doll Makeover
Join Hannah sharing techniques to change dolls to have more natural and realistic faces, bodies and hair. Empower yourself or your child to repair and transform Barbies, Bratz and similar dolls. Bringing a doll is optional, all other supplies provided.
